The First Paddock 2010Excitement in the vineyard

Jacque Murphy writes --

All massive toothy grins at the vineyard today with news that The First Paddock 2010 Pinot Noir has picked up a gold medal at the Royal Easter Wine Show – a noble reason to celebrate (re-thinking the republic idea) with some imperial excess as it's the third gold medal the 2010 Two Paddocks fleet has garnered. Needless to say, everyone VERY happy! And enormous congratulations to the team behind the vineyard and the resulting wine – Mike Wing, Dean Shaw and their respective crews.

To re-cap on the reasons for all this unbridled happiness and emotion, the 2010 vintage Two Paddock's Pinots have to date won (dahdadadahhhhhh – bugles blaring)

  • Outstanding Gold at the London International Wine Challenge for the flagship Two Paddocks Pinot Noir 2010
  • Gold at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards 2012 for The Last Chance Pinot Noir 2010
  • and now The First Paddock completes the triptych with Gold at the Royal Easter Show 2013.

The Proprietor is delighted and would love you all to buy a bottle or two when it is released in April (blatant marketing push by marketing). "How can we buy it?" we hear you say. Well…there's a bit of both The First Paddock 2010 and The Last Chance 2010 available from the Two Paddocks e–shop launching on the website from early April – so watch this space! In the meantime, bravo to The First Paddock – Sam's first vineyard and a wine that we think Lisa Perrotti-Brown summed up nicely at the Pinot Noir NZ 2013 Regional Tasting "I saw something extraordinary in this wine". -- JM
