2010 Picnic Riesling

About the wine

PICNIC

The label shows the proprietor's grandparents picnicking with friends at Wanaka circa 1920. Happy days.

Once again our perennial favourite – the wine we enjoy everyday and a wonderful introduction to the pleasure of Central Otago Riesling. With all the fruit sourced from Two Paddock’s Redbank Vineyard at Alexandra, Central Otago, Picnic Riesling 2010 is made in a juicy style suggesting approachability and value for money, although The Proprietor advises enjoying in moderation…

Tasting Notes

Vintage Comments: Following on from the strong 2009,2010 wasa ‘rock-star’ vintage in Central Otago with a mild wet spring followed by good calm weather through flowering. Like the 2009 vintage, it was a pro-longed and even slightly cooler summer, which again meant intense flavour development and concentration in the grapes.

Winemaker’s Notes: Crushed rose petal, spicy ginger and lime aromatics.  Followed by a focused, mineral driver palate with strength and an energetic finish. A lively and varietal wine that drinks well immediately but has the potential to age elegantly over the next 3-5 years.
