New Two Paddocks Vineyard!

Proprietor goes crazy! In the right way.

In the world of Believe It or Not, this takes some beating.

As of this week, we have acquired a beautiful six hectare Pinot block in Bannockburn, on the Felton Rd. Our neighbours are Felton Rd Vineyard, Terra Sancta and Wild Earth.

The Proprietor has been quietly sniffing around this area for some time, looking for a opportunity, looking for the right block – one that would compliment our existing vineyards. Remarkably one, the right one, came up a few weeks ago, and we quickly moved to buy it. Established in 1999 by Jane Gill and Denny Downie, the vineyard is a gem that has produced outstanding pinots from the start. It is a testament to hard work, commitment, and above all love ...

This makes us at Two Paddocks unique in that we are the only wine producer in Central Otago that own a footprint in ALL three of Central’s great valleys – first Gibbston, then the Alexandra basin, and now the Cromwell Basin.The Cromwell stretches all the way from Bannockburn to Tarras and Wanaka.

We have taken over this week. And we feel immensely privileged to do so. We will be harvesting the 2014 vintage in April. Huzzah.

So what does this mean? Here is some of it:

• We will increase our total output by some 30%, and this may ease some of those small allocations hopefully.
• We will rename the vineyard, as the title “Desert Heart” goes with the girls. TBA.
• Some of the Bannockburn fruit from this site will become a component of both Picnic and Two Paddocks Pinot.
• We will undoubtedly add another single vineyard Pinot to our line-up, named after the new vineyard.

Now we find ourselves with not just with another crazy good site, but one in the deep heart of our region. Hats in the air, if you please!
